Preplanning
We often receive questions about why it is such a good idea to preplan cemetery arrangements, and many people are not aware that it is possible to do so. Cemetery planning can be helpful for many reasons.
When a family loses a loved one, it can be very stressful to have to make many decisions in a short amount of time. When arrangements have been preplanned and decisions have already been made, it makes things much easier on family members. It also allows the person who is preplanning to have some control over their final wishes.
Preplanning may result in substantial savings, since grave spaces, mausoleum crypts, vaults, and other merchandise, all of which will be subject to inflation and rise in cost over the years, will be purchased at today’s prices.
Also, items purchased in advance may be financed for up to three years, whereas items purchased at need (at a time of death) must be paid for in full at that time.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the Benefits of Preplanning?
First of all, it is one of the last gifts which you can leave your family. We understand that planning for this type of thing can be very unsettling and uncomfortable, but imagine how much more difficult it will be for your loved ones to plan for these things when the time comes. Saving them from the financial and emotional stress of making so many important decisions in such a small amount of time - time which will undoubtedly already be filled with sadness, heartache, and many other emotions - is one of the most unselfish things you can do.
Preplanning also helps to make sure that your personal wishes will be carried out the way you would have wanted.
How can Preplanning help my family and me financially?
When you preplan, you lock in today's prices for tomorrow's merchandise. Inflation is on the rise, so it may be very beneficial for you and your family to lock in the price on a grave space, vault, and/or marker today since they will inevitably increase exponentially over the next several years. We also offer financing for up to three years.
Is inflation really going to matter that much?
Inflation increases all of a cemetery's charges over time. Grave spaces, mausoleum crypts, cremation niches, vaults, markers, and service costs will all rise over the years. With the rapidly rising cost of metals, the bronze that is used to make markers increases once, sometimes twice each year. Imagine what the cost will be fifty years from now. When you preplan, you don’t have to worry about the rising cost of metal since your price has already been locked in.
What can be funded on a preneed basis?
Grave spaces , Mausoleum Crypts , Cremation Niches , Vaults, and Markers can all be funded on a preneed basis. Lawnwood Memorial Park can help you pre-fund all of these things.
What cannot be funded on a preneed basis?
Due to the rapid rise in inflation, there are unfortunately some things that cannot be pre-funded. This is one reason why it is so important to take care of all the expenses you can, so that the financial burden on your family will be substantially less. The opening and closing of a grave space can only be paid for at the time of death. Also, the death date scroll for a pre-funded marker can only be paid for at the time of death.
